I promise there are way less pictures this time around than the last post. Last week we had a last-minute opportunity to go on an overnight trip to Reno. Ryan's parents were going to be there for a couple days and since we don't get to see them very often, we decided to drive over and hang out with them for a little bit. I've never really been to Reno. Well, I've been to Reno, but never really BEEN to Reno. It was a fun time and we saw some pretty cool stuff.
Remember the old school McDonald's that had the Hamburglar and Grimace and the Fry Guys? This tree totally calls back to those days. It reminded me more of the grumpy trees on The Wizard of Oz. The McDonald's we went was pretty Ghetto but it saved us from having a buffet for every meal. And if all goes well, my mother-in-law will have lots of luck with the Monopoly game and we'll hit it big.
Reno has a free bus that goes up and down the main strip and we rode that for about 45 minutes. It was a neat/free way to see more of Reno than we would have otherwise. Above is Benson with his Papa.
Zoe and her MeMa.
One of the coolest things we did was go to Harrah's Automobile Museum. There was a huge collection of cars and it was fun to go through the tour and see how cars have changed over the years. At one point, there's a little area where they have old clothes you can dress up in and take pictures in a real (as in not fake) old car. That's us above and then my in-laws below.
The car above was the real car that made history and drove from New York to Paris in 1908. There is a movie, "The Great Race" (Tony Curtis and Natalie Wood) which is humorously based on that event and it is a movie I grew up watching. Not a lot of people know that movie. However, it also holds a special place for me and Ryan because it was upon finding out that HE knew that movie that I felt he was "worthy" enough to kiss. And from that, well, engagement, marriage, kids, etc. I pretty much owe a lot to that movie.
We went to the buffet twice within 24 hours and that was enough for me. There was good food and thankfully the kids ate free.

Of course, an out of place picture. Zoe was wandering around somewhere else so she missed out.
